For this DIY chip teacup, you will need:
- Porcelain cup
- Rubbing alcohol or vinegar
- Cotton pads
- Sharpie permanent markers in the color black, baby blue, baby pink, purple, hot pink, and gold
Take one of the cotton pads and the rubbing alcohol/ vinegar and clean the whole cup. Make sure that all of the dirt and oils from your hands are gone so that the sharpie can adhere better to the surface of the cup.
Use the gold-colored sharpie to paint the teacup handle. Allow the sharpie to dry all the way before applying a second coat to it.
Start by painting the pattern to the base of the cup using the baby pink, baby blue, and purple sharpies.
Draw two gold lines on the top and bottom rims of the base, use tape for a straighter line around the cup.
Draw a line with your gold sharpie on the top rim of the teacup. You can use tape to achieve a straight line all around the cup.
Take the black sharpie and add detail to the petals on the base of the teacup.
Draw Chip’s facial features, if needed pull up a picture for reference to look back at.
When your Chip teacup design is complete, put it in the oven and set the temperature to 425 degrees. Let Chip bake for 30 minutes. When the 30 minutes are up, crack open the oven door and allow everything to cool completely before removing Chip from the oven. Taking the mug out before it has cooled can result in cracking. Make sure to wait at least 24 hours before washing Chip to make sure the design is sealed in.
