Are you trying to save a little bit of money on your event? Or maybe you are just looking for a way to add a more personal touch to your invitations? Either way, DIY invitations might be the perfect solution for you! If you want to DIY your invitations, there are are a few ways you can go about it.
Print At Home
This is the real deal! If you have a nice printer and a functioning laptop, you can totally print your own invitations at home. You’ll need to take a trip to an art supply store and pick up some thicker paper to print them on. Then, on your computer, you can design your invitations yourself! This is a great option for anyone who regards themselves as “tech-savvy.” There are a lot of cool and fancy fonts you can download for free online to use on your invites too.
Many people choose to include extra cards with their invites to explain accommodations, transportation options, and reception details, as well as reply cards. Another DIY way to save a little money is to print your these extras at home. If you choose to order your invites from a website or print shop, you will still save a lot of money by printing the other cards at home.
Maybe you want to order your invites online, but can’t afford to add on all the extras. You can order your invites and add these things yourself at home! If you want to add some personal flair to the invite, you can try using a pretty stamp and ink to add a design to the back or borders of the invite. Another gorgeous way to play up a basic invite is by painting it with watercolors! Make sure you purchase a few extra invitations in case you mess up!
You can add little extras to your invites to make them more personal as well! You can buy and add your own ribbon easily. Another fun trend we have seen is using a Cricut machine to cut out shapes relevant to your party theme. For example, if you are having a winter-themed event, you can include little snowflake cut-outs with your invitations! Tie them to the invite with your guest’s name, use them as your RSVP cards, or just stuff them in the envelope-whatever your preference is!
Have you seen those beautiful envelopes with the patterned liners? They really make your invites look more fancy! And…they can set you back about $1 each. The good news is, if you have a little time on your hands, you can add liners on your own at home! If you order your invitations online, they usually come with envelopes for free. So, all you need to do is make the liners. You can purchase some really pretty wrapping paper or buy some nice paper from a craft store. Trace the envelope on the paper, then trace the shape about ¼ of an inch inside, so that it is smaller than the size of the envelope. Practice a few times until you get the right size! Then all you need to do is glue them inside your envelopes!
We have seen a rise in the trend of custom stamps over the last few years. If you are thinking about making your own invitations, stamps could be a great help to you! You can order a custom stamp like this one on Etsy, and use it in your invites. Simply create your invitation on your computer at home, leaving space for the stamp. After printing, go through and stamp each invitation. We think that stamps give your invites a cute, classic look! Plus, you can reuse them on your envelopes and party favors!
